Masks





The wire mask appears as part of a few of the Traditional Masquerades from Carnivals in the Caribbean. One of these masquerades is Jonkonnu ( John Canoe), a mas' played in Jamaica. Another is the Trinidadian Jester mas' called Jab Jab (Diable).

I made my first wire mask when I was at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, in Dundee Scotland. Over the past 15 years, the wire mask is something that I continue to come back to. For Third Eye Flowering, I exhibited 14 masks. Here are a few examples.
